About the Opportunity

A highly regarded academic institution in Portland is seeking a Tax Workshop Facilitator to assist international students with filing their federal and state tax returns. This short-term, part-time project is ideal for someone familiar with personal tax preparation who enjoys helping others navigate online systems and problem-solve in real time.

Key Responsibilities

• Facilitate small, in-person workshops for international students completing federal Form 1040NR and Oregon state returns.
• Guide students step-by-step through the tax software (similar to TurboTax).
• Provide support and clarification as students input information, ensuring accuracy and understanding.
• Manage workshop setup and flow, including whiteboard notes and screen-by-screen instruction.
• Assist approximately 120–130 students from more than 50 countries over the three-week period.

What You’ll Bring

• Experience using tax preparation software such as TurboTax, H&R Block, or similar.
• Working knowledge of U.S. individual tax filing concepts; prior experience with nonresident filings is a plus.
• Strong communication and patience when explaining detailed processes.
• Organized, calm, and able to manage multiple workshops each day.
