About the Opportunity
My client, a stable and growing manufacturing organization, is seeking a hands-on, small company Controller to lead all financial management, administrative operations, and internal controls. This is a key leadership role that partners directly with the company President and influences long-term financial sustainability, operational decision-making, and organizational performance.
This position is ideal for an experienced, detail-oriented financial professional who enjoys being both strategic and hands-on in a dynamic environment and has experience working in a small company environment.
Key Responsibilities for Controller-
Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including:
- General ledger management
- Accounts payable and receivable
- Payroll
- Month-end and year-end close processes
Note: This role currently has no accounting support staff — the Controller is responsible for completing these tasks independently.

Manage relationships with financial institutions, external auditors, and insurance partners.

Ensure compliance with all financial laws, regulations, and tax requirements, including planning and reporting.

Lead administrative functions, including HR administration, employee benefits, and business insurance.

Collaborate with operations and leadership to:
- Build and manage budgets
- Monitor financial performance
- Provide data-driven recommendations

Support the President in building a culture of accountability, service, and continuous improvement.

Monitor cash flow, profitability, and capital expenditures to maintain strong financial stability.
Qualifications for Controller
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field. Advanced credentials such as CPA, CMA, or a relevant master’s degree are preferred.
- 5–10 years of progressive experience in accounting, finance, and administration.
- Strong working knowledge of GAAP, budgeting, and financial reporting.
- Experience with ERP/accounting systems.
- Ability to translate business objectives into financial strategy and insights.
- Excellent decision-making, analytical, and problem‑solving abilities with strong attention to detail.
- Effective communicator capable of explaining financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders.
- Proven ability to lead, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.
- High level of integrity, dependability, and professionalism.
Working Conditions & Compensation
- Full-time, on-site role
- Reports directly to the President
- Salary: $85,000–$95,000, depending on experience
