About the Opportunity

My client, a stable and growing manufacturing organization, is seeking a hands-on, small company Controller to lead all financial management, administrative operations, and internal controls. This is a key leadership role that partners directly with the company President and influences long-term financial sustainability, operational decision-making, and organizational performance.

This position is ideal for an experienced, detail-oriented financial professional who enjoys being both strategic and hands-on in a dynamic environment and has experience working in a small company environment.

Key Responsibilities for Controller
  • Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including:

    • General ledger management
    • Accounts payable and receivable
    • Payroll
    • Month-end and year-end close processes
      Note: This role currently has no accounting support staff — the Controller is responsible for completing these tasks independently.
  • Manage relationships with financial institutions, external auditors, and insurance partners.

  • Ensure compliance with all financial laws, regulations, and tax requirements, including planning and reporting.

  • Lead administrative functions, including HR administration, employee benefits, and business insurance.

  • Collaborate with operations and leadership to:

    • Build and manage budgets
    • Monitor financial performance
    • Provide data-driven recommendations
  • Support the President in building a culture of accountability, service, and continuous improvement.

  • Monitor cash flow, profitability, and capital expenditures to maintain strong financial stability.

Qualifications for Controller

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field. Advanced credentials such as CPA, CMA, or a relevant master’s degree are preferred.
  • 5–10 years of progressive experience in accounting, finance, and administration.
  • Strong working knowledge of GAAP, budgeting, and financial reporting.
  • Experience with ERP/accounting systems.
  • Ability to translate business objectives into financial strategy and insights.
  • Excellent decision-making, analytical, and problem‑solving abilities with strong attention to detail.
  • Effective communicator capable of explaining financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to lead, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.
  • High level of integrity, dependability, and professionalism.

Working Conditions & Compensation

  • Full-time, on-site role
  • Reports directly to the President
  • Salary: $85,000–$95,000, depending on experience
